The European Union and the United Nations Development Programme have launched a new initiative in Moldova aimed at accelerating the growth of sustainable enterprises. Through a program funded by the EU, 30 green entrepreneurial initiatives will be selected to receive targeted support, equipment, and services designed to help them scale environmentally friendly business models.
The initiative is part of a broader effort under the project “Enabling an inclusive green transition in the Republic of Moldova,” which focuses on strengthening the country’s private sector through innovation and sustainability. Selected businesses will work across areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, cleaner production methods, waste reduction, and circular economy solutions.
Startups and small and medium-sized enterprises will also be encouraged to develop innovative green technologies and modernize production processes. The program aims to help companies improve competitiveness while reducing environmental impact.
A key focus of the program is support for circular economy startups working on reuse, repair, eco-design, and sustainable waste management solutions, including plastics, textiles, and electronic waste. Participants will also receive mentoring and training in resource efficiency, ESG practices, and access to green financing opportunities.
The selected initiatives will run from July 2026 to August 2027, requiring a minimum co-financing contribution depending on the category of participation. By supporting these initiatives, the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme aim to foster a more resilient, competitive, and environmentally responsible business ecosystem in Moldova, helping local entrepreneurs transition toward greener and more sustainable practices.
