The Rockefeller Foundation The Rockefeller Foundation has announced the mobilization of more than $450 million in combined philanthropic, private, and public sector funding aimed at expanding opportunity across U.S. communities through its “Big Bets for America” initiative.
The announcement was made during the latest convening in Cleveland, where over $350 million in new commitments were pledged alone to support workforce development, housing, education, infrastructure, and innovation-focused programs in Ohio and surrounding regions. The initiative brought together leaders from government, philanthropy, business, and nonprofits to accelerate large-scale solutions to economic and social challenges.
Across three convenings held since late 2025, including earlier events in Oklahoma City and Baltimore, the initiative has engaged more than 1,200 leaders and driven coordinated investments targeting long-term economic mobility. The Rockefeller Foundation emphasized that the effort is designed to move beyond discussion and directly unlock funding for scalable, community-driven solutions.
A major portion of the Cleveland commitments includes a $300 million workforce development initiative aimed at closing skills gaps in advanced industries, alongside investments in housing development, industrial site readiness, and education programs. Additional funding supports affordable housing expansion, public-private workforce training models, and emerging technology initiatives, including AI-driven learning tools for students.
Foundation leadership stated that the “Big Bets for America” series is focused on building cross-sector coalitions capable of addressing structural economic challenges at scale. The initiative also highlights Cleveland’s historical significance in American industry and its ongoing role as a hub for innovation and economic reinvention.
The Rockefeller Foundation continues to position the program as a model for combining philanthropic capital with public and private investment to drive long-term community development and inclusive growth across the United States.
