Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) has announced plans to invest $1.28 billion in Egypt between 2026 and 2030 as part of its strategy to expand production capacity and strengthen its position in one of Africa’s most important consumer markets. The announcement was made during the inauguration of a new production line at the company’s Alexandria facility on June 7.
The company has been operating in Egypt since 1994 and currently manages five bottling plants located in Alexandria, Tanta, Sadat City, Qalyub, and Assiut. Through these facilities, Coca-Cola HBC manufactures and distributes several globally recognized beverage brands, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, and Schweppes.
According to the company’s Egyptian subsidiary, its operations generated nearly $1 billion in economic value for the country in 2024. The business directly employs around 4,900 people and supports approximately 64,000 additional jobs through its supply chain, distribution activities, and related economic networks.
The Egypt investment forms part of a broader expansion strategy across Africa’s largest economies. In South Africa, The Coca-Cola Company announced a $1.06 billion investment program for the 2026–2030 period aimed at expanding production, improving distribution systems, and supporting innovation. A similar five-year investment plan worth $1 billion was previously unveiled for Nigeria.
These investments coincide with a major restructuring of Coca-Cola’s bottling operations on the continent. Since 2025, Coca-Cola HBC has been pursuing the acquisition of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the company’s principal bottling partner in Africa, which operates across approximately 15 markets. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026 and would significantly strengthen Coca-Cola HBC’s presence and influence across the African beverage industry.
