The Ontario government is investing $2.25 million to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in community spaces across the province through the second round of the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) Grant. The program provides up to $60,000 for small capital projects that improve accessibility and support active, healthy lifestyles for people with disabilities and older adults. Funding is available to municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, and Indigenous governing bodies to make retrofits such as accessible washrooms, mobility device charging stations, mobility mats at beaches, and other improvements that create safer and more welcoming community spaces.
Earlier EASE Grant projects are already underway, including retrofitting community halls with ramps and power-operated doors, upgrading community gardens with accessible pathways and raised beds, enhancing outdoor spaces with inclusive playgrounds and kayak launches, and renovating library service areas with ergonomic and accessible features. The initiative is part of Ontario’s broader effort to remove physical barriers, modernize public spaces, and ensure that more residents can fully participate in community life. Applications for the second round of funding are open until May 7, 2026.
