The GEF-Small Grants Programme (SGP), implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Royal Government of Bhutan, is inviting proposals from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) under its Operational Phase 8 (OP-8) Country Programme Strategy. The call focuses on projects that address climate and environmental challenges while promoting sustainable development at the community level.
The programme targets six eastern districts of Bhutan—Mongar, Lhuentse, Samdrup Jongkhar, Pema Gatshel, Trashigang, and Trashi Yangtse—with special emphasis on Pema Gatshel. Forty percent of the grant funding will be allocated to community-based projects within these districts, while the remaining 60 percent will support similar initiatives in the other 14 districts outside this primary landscape.
Interested organisations must submit proposals by 23 April 2026, ensuring alignment with the SGP’s OP-8 Country Programme Strategy. Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed information about ongoing projects, project coordinators, and relevant organizational experience, following the templates and terms of reference provided by UNDP.
For further guidance, applicants can contact the UNDP GEF-SGP Secretariat via email at tshering.yangtsho@undp.org
or jamyang.selden@undp.org
, or by calling 02-322424 (Ext-330/331) during office hours. The call provides an opportunity for local organisations to access funding for initiatives that strengthen community resilience and address pressing climate and environmental challenges in Bhutan.
