The African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Renaissance Trust (ART) have formalized a renewed Memorandum of Understanding under the African Union Partnership Platform, marking a significant step toward advancing inclusive development across Africa. This renewed framework strengthens cooperation between the two institutions to accelerate the implementation of the AU’s Agenda 2063.
Building on a successful partnership launched in March 2023, the collaboration has already delivered measurable outcomes through technical expertise, strategic secondments, and the implementation of programs within the Women, Gender, and Youth Directorate (WGYD). The partnership has become a model for translating strategic alliances into tangible results that benefit women and young people across the continent.
At the signing ceremony, Ms. Prudence Nonkululeko Ngwenya, Director of WGYD, highlighted the importance of the agreement in reinforcing institutional capacity and ensuring that partnerships produce measurable impacts across AU Member States. Representing ART, Trustee and Director Ms. Caroline Kwamboka Nyakundi reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to AU priorities, emphasizing shared values, mutual accountability, and the opportunity to deepen technical support and resource mobilization for youth and gender equality outcomes.
The renewed MoU establishes a three-year cooperation period with a focus on performance-based renewal. Both the AUC and ART are committed to enhancing strategic engagement, supporting policy implementation, and mobilizing expertise and resources to advance continental initiatives that empower women and youth. This partnership demonstrates the tangible impact of coordinated efforts between international institutions and regional organizations in promoting Africa’s inclusive growth and development.
