$52 Million Grant Program to Accelerate Low-Carbon Manufacturing in NSW

Dated: February 20, 2026

The Minns Labor Government has announced a $52 million investment to support renewable manufacturing projects in New South Wales, creating over 100 construction jobs and 67 ongoing positions. This funding forms part of the broader $480 million Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative, which aims to accelerate emissions reductions and develop technologies critical to the state’s renewable energy transition.

The program currently supports more than 1,100 jobs across 40 projects statewide. The latest grants target innovative businesses that will serve as the foundation of a sustainable, low-carbon manufacturing sector in NSW. Recipients include Optimal Renewable Gas in Griffith, which will receive $20 million to convert agricultural organic waste into gas for heating and power generation, and Hiringa Energy near Moree, awarded $9.4 million to expand low-carbon ammonia fertilizer production for sustainable cotton farming.

Additionally, Hiringa Refuelling Australia will receive $778,000 to develop hydrogen refueling stations, advancing green freight operations between Sydney and Southeast Queensland. Tyree Transformers will receive $22 million to expand production of transformers that reduce energy loss from solar and wind farms, enhancing renewable energy efficiency. The Minister for Energy and Climate Change visited Tyree Transformers’ Braemar facility to officially launch the four grant recipients and highlight the state’s commitment to building a green manufacturing and energy future.
