The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has launched its second annual Ramadan campaign, “Share the Blessings,” expanding the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) to support migrants and displaced families affected by crises. Building on last year’s initiative in Sudan, the campaign now extends assistance across multiple emergency contexts, addressing growing humanitarian needs driven by conflict, climate impacts, and displacement.
Mohammed Abdiker, IOM Chief of Staff and Chair of the IPF Advisory Body, emphasized that the Fund embodies compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility. The IPF enables Zakat to reach people who are displaced, exploited, or unprotected, providing essential support while respecting their dignity and offering choice. Every contribution is delivered with accountability and hope, ensuring faith-aligned humanitarian assistance.
Ramadan is traditionally a time of generosity for Muslim communities, yet millions of migrants and displaced people face insecurity and limited access to basic services. Through the campaign, IOM facilitates Zakat giving in line with Shariah principles, ensuring that assistance reaches those in acute need with dignity and respect.
Funds from the IPF provide life-saving support such as emergency shelter, health care, protection services, and cash assistance. Cash transfers empower families to address their most urgent needs independently, preserving dignity and stimulating local economies, even during crises.
The campaign supports IOM’s work with displaced families, stranded migrants, survivors of trafficking, and vulnerable host communities in countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Gaza, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. The IPF operates under a 100 per cent Zakat distribution policy, fully aligned with Shariah law and IOM’s financial and accountability standards, ensuring all contributions directly reach eligible beneficiaries.
Since its launch, the IPF has grown through digital campaigns and direct donor engagement, increasing access to faith-aligned giving while maintaining transparency and trust. As global humanitarian needs rise, IOM continues to strengthen the Fund to diversify and sustain resources for migrants and displaced people worldwide. Donations can be made through IOM’s secure online platform in English and Arabic.
