A series of events organized under the Chevening Alumni programme brought together specialists, entrepreneurs and local partners to promote dialogue, learning and networking aimed at strengthening women’s economic leadership in Guatemala. Supported by the Chevening Alumni Programme Fund, the initiatives were designed to enhance women’s leadership, economic participation and entrepreneurship by creating inclusive spaces for reflection and collaboration across sectors.
The first initiative focused on women in entrepreneurship and was held in Guatemala City, bringing together participants from diverse professional backgrounds for an interactive and inspiring exchange. Women working in fields such as construction, technology, gastronomy and the arts shared personal experiences, challenges and achievements, fostering open discussion and mutual learning. The event emphasized mentorship and networking, helping participants build connections and deepen their understanding of women’s roles within Guatemala’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A second initiative took place at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala through an academic exchange examining women’s economic participation and entrepreneurship. This public forum offered a multidisciplinary analysis of the economic realities faced by women, drawing on research, evidence and case studies presented by Chevening Alumni and other professionals. Discussions highlighted persistent barriers such as unequal access to education, discrimination and structural limitations in the labour market, while also encouraging evidence-based and collaborative solutions.
Together, these activities underscored the Chevening network’s commitment in Guatemala to advancing women’s leadership, economic equity and sustainable development. By fostering dialogue, knowledge-sharing and collective action, the Chevening Alumni programme continues to support initiatives that generate meaningful impact and contribute to stronger, more inclusive economic opportunities for women.
