Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has announced a series of new partnerships with global businesses, brands, and philanthropic organizations to accelerate vaccine innovation and expand access to primary healthcare in underserved communities. The announcement, made at Davos on 22 January 2026, emphasizes the continued relevance of Gavi’s public-private partnership model, which helps countries scale proven health solutions from pilot programs to national systems.
Central to this effort is the Gavi Innovation Scale-Up Facility (SUF), designed to unlock private capital and expand innovations across the immunization value chain. Building on an initial pledge of CAD 40 million from Grand Challenges Canada, Gavi has now partnered with 500 Global to potentially mobilize up to US$300 million to scale high-impact innovations. The initiative focuses on aligning partners to manage risk, accelerate the deployment of proven solutions, and ultimately improve health outcomes in fragile and emerging settings.
The Coca-Cola Foundation has pledged support to the SUF, offering technical assistance to countries and enterprises to scale innovations through initiatives such as Project Last Mile and Next Mile Ventures. These efforts aim to enhance the practical rollout of vaccine programs and strengthen health systems.
In addition, Gavi has launched a multi-partner initiative targeting cocoa-farming communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. Partners include Tony’s Chocolonely, UBS Optimus Foundation, and Bayer Foundation, with implementation by Elucid. The initiative focuses on reducing health costs, improving vaccination rates, and expanding primary healthcare through mobile clinics, community health worker training, cold-chain improvements, and digital enrollment for national health insurance. The program aims to reach 140,000 children in its first three years, benefiting over 600,000 people across both countries.
Gavi’s partnership with drone delivery company Zipline has also expanded to Nigeria, delivering vaccines to remote and zero-dose communities in Kaduna State. This expansion is supported by the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the Swedish government, highlighting Gavi’s commitment to innovation in reaching hard-to-access populations.
Together, these collaborations demonstrate Gavi’s ongoing dedication to using innovation, public-private partnerships, and strategic investment to ensure life-saving vaccines and essential health services reach more children and communities worldwide.
