The Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) plays a key role in Canada’s economy, hosting thousands of businesses that produce essential goods, create high-quality jobs, and drive innovation. To support these local manufacturers and innovators, the Government of Canada is investing in advanced technologies, expanding production capabilities, and promoting smarter, more sustainable solutions.
Today, the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, announced a combined repayable investment of over $15 million for eight GTHA companies: A.B.M. Tool & Die Company Ltd., Celplast Metallized Products Limited, GH Power Inc., Hitachi Rail, Imagoh Foods Ltd., Paradigm Shift Technologies, Redstone Food Group, and Quantum Bridge Technologies. The announcement was made during a visit to Celplast Metallized Products Limited, with Parliamentary Secretary Maggie Chi in attendance.
Celplast Metallized Products is receiving more than $1.6 million to adopt advanced manufacturing equipment, enhancing its domestic production of high-barrier metal coatings and transparent film products. This investment will help the company remain competitive, meet growing demand, and expand its international markets in sectors such as building insulation and sustainable food packaging.
The funding will help all eight companies strengthen their competitiveness and local supply chains. Through this support, businesses in the GTHA can modernize operations, scale production, create quality jobs, and ensure Canada remains competitive in the global market.
The investment covers a diverse range of industries, from clean energy and food production to rail technology, advanced coatings, and quantum-safe cybersecurity. By supporting innovation and sustainable solutions, the Government of Canada aims to foster economic growth across southern Ontario while maintaining the region’s manufacturing legacy.
Since 2015, FedDev Ontario has invested over $475 million in nearly 520 projects within the manufacturing sector, creating and maintaining more than 31,000 jobs. This continued support underscores the government’s commitment to helping local businesses innovate, scale, and compete on the global stage.
