Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) make up nearly 70 percent of Mongolia’s total employment, yet many struggle to access public services due to lengthy and complex procedures. To help address these issues, the ILO, together with key ministries, held a workshop on 28 October 2025 aimed at improving MSME registration and licensing processes.
The workshop centered on enhancing access to essential information, simplifying registration steps, and strengthening compliance. During the opening, the ILO highlighted the importance of reducing informality and promoting social justice through decent work. Experts underscored how integrating micro and small enterprises into an e-business platform can cut costs, boost efficiency, and create better connections between government systems.
Participants received international perspectives on digital business platforms and learned about the current status of Mongolia’s E-Business system. Stakeholders were encouraged to provide feedback to ensure that digital services align more closely with enterprise needs.
Discussions also brought to light ongoing challenges such as limited data sharing across government agencies and the continued reliance on paper documents even when digital uploads are available. These issues underline the need for fully digitalized and integrated systems to improve service delivery for MSMEs.
Moving forward, the ILO will continue to collaborate with its constituents, partners, and the private sector to implement practical solutions that simplify administrative procedures and strengthen digital platforms. These efforts aim to foster an enabling environment that supports MSME growth, enhances productivity, and advances decent work in Mongolia.
