The SDG4 Youth & Student Network is hosting an online event to highlight entities that have demonstrated promising practices in advancing youth engagement in education. This initiative follows the nominations of #LeadingSDG4Youth champions and is part of Phase 2 of the campaign. The event aims to showcase the journeys and lessons learned by these champions, inspiring others and reaffirming youth and student leadership as central to transforming education.
Youth and students have long advocated for meaningful inclusion in education policy and practice, notably through the Youth Declaration on Transforming Education and ongoing engagement with the SDG4 High-Level Steering Committee. In response, many UN bodies, Ministries of Education, civil society organizations, and academic institutions have begun opening spaces for young people to co-shape decisions, programmes, and systems.
The event is part of the #YouthLead Festival, a week-long celebration of youth leadership and intergenerational action anchored around the 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA80) and the 30th Anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY30). Hosted by the UN Youth Office, the Festival ensures wide visibility among UN entities, governments, civil society, youth-led organizations, and other partners.
