The 10th Africa Scout Youth Forum opened on 14 September 2025 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, bringing together over 60 young participants from 31 African countries. Centered on the theme “Living Together for Peace,” the forum addresses challenges such as conflict, insecurity, and forced displacement, which disproportionately affect young people across the continent. The event provides a timely platform for reflection, dialogue, and collective action, empowering youth to actively shape the future of Scouting in Africa.
The opening day set a dynamic tone, with Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee leading sessions that encouraged meaningful engagement. A panel on leadership urged participants to think beyond formal titles and take active roles in decision-making processes. Practical workshops on drafting resolutions equipped delegates with tools to transform their ideas into actionable recommendations for the upcoming 19th Africa Scout Conference.
Beyond discussions, the forum serves as a space for learning, inspiration, and influence, reinforcing Scouting’s commitment to youth empowerment. During the opening ceremony, Chair Faruk Oumarou Hamidou Soumana highlighted the critical role of youth leadership in both Scouting and broader society. Regional Director for Africa, Frederic Kama-Kama, officially opened the event, emphasizing the importance of bold, solution-driven conversations and the responsibility of young people to act as voices of reason and hope across the continent.
Running until 16 September, the forum includes the election of six new Youth Advisors to the Africa Scout Committee, who will serve three-year terms and ensure that youth perspectives remain central to decision-making. Delegates will also develop recommendations to present at the 19th Africa Scout Conference starting on 18 September. With enthusiasm, purpose, and a focus on peace, the Youth Forum is laying the foundation for transformative youth-led impact across Africa.
