Diverse Fellowship and Grant Opportunities Open for Researchers and Professionals in India

Dated: September 7, 2025

A range of exciting fellowship and research grant opportunities are currently available for researchers and professionals interested in advancing their careers in India. These openings span various disciplines, from science and technology to urban studies and legal research, offering valuable experience and support for academic and professional growth.

India Science and Research Fellowship (ISRF)

The India Science and Research Fellowship (ISRF) Programme, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), invites applications from researchers in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The fellowship allows participants to pursue research in advanced areas of science, including medicine and agriculture, at premier Indian institutions for 3 to 6 months. Up to 80 fellowships will be awarded, providing a monthly sustenance allowance, contingency grants, and round-trip airfare. Eligibility requires applicants to be actively engaged in research, hold a PhD or equivalent, and be under 45 years of age. The application deadline is April 15, 2022.

National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Openings

  • Administrative Assistant (Research): NLSIU is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support its research administration. This full-time position in Bengaluru involves coordinating research activities, maintaining records, managing project information, and providing administrative support for fellowship programs and research centers. Applicants need a graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks and at least 1-3 years of relevant experience. The application deadline is September 25, 2025.
  • Manager – Admissions: NLSIU is also recruiting a Manager for Admissions. This permanent position, based in Bengaluru, requires managing the end-to-end admissions process, including marketing, outreach, application evaluation, and student advisement. Essential qualifications include a graduate degree with 55% marks and a minimum of 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role. The application deadline is April 8, 2025.
  • Writing Urban India Fellowship Round 3 (WUI 3.0): This 10-month fellowship, hosted by NLSIU in collaboration with the Writing Urban India Collective and the Urban Studies Foundation (UK), is designed to nurture early-career scholars in writing and publishing on urbanization in India. It is a writing fellowship, not a research fellowship, focusing on capacity building through workshops and mentorship. The program is open to urban practitioners, PhD students, and early-career academics focusing on urban studies. While no lump-sum stipend is provided, financial resources are available for interaction with mentors and workshops. The application deadline is December 25, 2024.
