As floodwaters continue to devastate large parts of Punjab, villages in Ajanala, Fazilka, and Ramdas have been left without electricity and basic necessities. In response, Hartek Foundation, the CSR arm of the Hartek Group, has donated 500 solar-powered lights to households struggling in darkness after prolonged power outages. The distribution is being carried out in partnership with Global Sikhs, whose teams are actively engaged in relief operations across the most affected districts.
Harkirat Kaur, CEO of Hartek Foundation, emphasized that light in a crisis represents more than visibility—it brings dignity, safety, and reassurance to affected families. For many villagers, these solar lights are the first source of illumination since the floods disrupted electricity connections. They are especially vital for women, children, and the elderly, who face heightened risks at night in flooded areas.
Punjab has experienced one of its worst monsoon flooding events in recent years, submerging crops, damaging homes, and displacing thousands of residents. While government and civil society groups work tirelessly to provide food, medical aid, and shelter, the availability of light after sunset remains a pressing challenge.
By providing solar-powered solutions, Hartek Foundation is addressing an immediate need while highlighting the importance of clean energy in disaster relief. In these communities, even a single lamp can transform fear into hope, helping families navigate uncertainty with greater safety and confidence.
