The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved India’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-based road safety project in Uttar Pradesh, signaling a significant advancement in tech-enabled governance. This pioneering initiative will be implemented by mLogica in partnership with the state-run ITI Limited, without any financial support from the central government.
The Uttar Pradesh administration has allocated ₹100 million in the 2025–2026 state budget to modernize road safety, traffic enforcement, and transportation documentation using AI and big data analytics. The goal is to create a more efficient and intelligent transportation ecosystem.
During a six-week proof-of-concept phase, the project will analyze a wide array of data—such as accident records, vehicle telematics, road infrastructure, weather conditions, and driver history—to identify accident-prone zones, forecast high-risk areas, and generate real-time dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
If successful, the AI system will be scaled up to include services like revenue tracking, e-challan issuance, a faceless license and permit system, and integration with the Vahan-Sarathi digital platform. It will also enable real-time document verification, fraud detection, and predictive violation alerts across departments.
This initiative aligns with the state’s broader efforts to improve public services through greater transparency, reduced accidents, and AI-enhanced governance.
