The European Water4All research programme is preparing to launch a new call focused on the theme “Water and Health.” This initiative brings together 31 participating countries aiming to fund research that enhances the understanding and management of water’s role in human, animal, and environmental health.
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) will participate in this round, specifically supporting projects that promote innovation in the water sector. The call encourages interdisciplinary proposals that address pressing challenges associated with water quality and public health.
Eligible research proposals must explore at least one of four key themes. These include the identification and behaviour of waterborne contaminants and associated health risks, as well as the development of innovative tools and technologies for monitoring water quality and exposure. Further areas of focus are effective water treatment and strategies to reduce exposure, along with improved governance, socio-economic innovation, and integration of water and health policies.
The initiative reflects a collaborative European effort to ensure access to clean and safe water through scientific innovation and policy reform.
