The Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) has announced the launch of the 2025 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Application with a deadline of January 24, 2025. This grant is designed to support postdoctoral researchers interested in studying arthritis and related autoimmune diseases.
The goal of the fellowship is to nurture the next generation of leaders in arthritis and autoimmune disease research by providing financial support to outstanding physicians pursuing innovative and impactful projects. The aim is to offer exceptional training opportunities that will facilitate significant advancements in the field.
The scope of the fellowship covers all areas of arthritis and related autoimmune disease research, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, and more. Eligible candidates are promising investigators in the early stages of their careers, aiming to make notable contributions to the field. Applicants must work under the guidance of a sponsoring mentor who will provide support and professional development opportunities.
Fellowship grants are awarded for one year, with funding of up to $50,000. Eligibility criteria include possessing an M.D. degree, being affiliated with a qualified U.S. nonprofit research institution, and having no more than four years of research training since obtaining a post-baccalaureate doctoral-level degree.
One application per sponsoring mentor is allowed annually, and applicants are encouraged to discuss their intention to apply with their mentor. Preference is given to postdoctoral investigators without an NIH R01 grant or equivalent, who have not previously received a grant from ANRF. Applicants cannot apply for both the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and another ANRF grant in the same cycle.
