The Hangar, a center dedicated to artistic production and research, in partnership with Fundación Banco Sabadell, is inviting applications for a grant to support the development of artistic research projects.
The grant is open to artists and researchers from any discipline within the cultural landscape of Spain who are working on artistic research projects. It welcomes projects in the form of doctoral theses as well as those outside academic settings. Applicants should be in need of Hangar’s facilities and services for their projects, which should also involve actions that aim to share and open up the generated knowledge. The chosen project will be conducted at Hangar during an eight-month residency period from March to October 2025.
Objectives
– Establish a research environment where traditional academic methods intersect with artistic methodologies, fostering methodological innovations.
– Encourage experimentation and critical exploration in artistic research while maintaining academic rigor.
– Provide resources for the implementation of artistic research projects.
– Contribute to defining artistic knowledge.
– Support the documentation, publication, and dissemination of artistic research.
Funding Information
– Honorarium: €9,750 gross.
– Production grants of up to €2,500 gross.
– Round-trip travel allowance to Barcelona of up to €250.
– The grant period spans eight consecutive months from March to October 2025.
Eligible Projects
– Include actions that facilitate knowledge transfer.
– Present the project during the residency at Hangar.
– Submit a final project report and evaluation within a month after completion.
– Acknowledge Banco Sabadell Foundation and Hangar in project communication.
Eligibility Criteria
– Open to researchers from any field involved in the cultural context of Spain working on artistic research projects.
– Projects at any stage requiring Hangar’s resources and incorporating actions for sharing knowledge are eligible.
Assessment Criteria
– Projects will be evaluated based on their alignment with Hangar’s research lines, feasibility, relevance, and the applicant’s artistic or research background.

– Each candidate can apply with one project only.
– Collective projects are accepted if one member is designated as a representative.
– Applicants must be connected to the cultural context of Spain.
