Charities supporting young people in Suffolk are celebrating after receiving a share of a £340,000 funding pot through the Suffolk Futures Fund (SFF). The fund was launched in 2025 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Suffolk Community Foundation and is designed to support organisations working with young people aged 16 to 25.
A total of 11 projects have received funding through the initiative. Together, these organisations provide a range of services for young people, including training programmes, work experience opportunities, support groups, and one-to-one mentoring aimed at helping them overcome challenges and build stronger futures.
Among the beneficiaries is The Nest Farms, based near Framlingham, which supports young people who are unable to access full-time education or employment due to mental health challenges. The organisation said the funding will help cover 15 placements over the next three years, providing vital mental health support in a safe and nurturing environment.
The Future Female Society, based in Ipswich, has also been awarded funding. The organisation plans to use the grant to continue supporting young girls through creative activism while also expanding workshops and guidance around key life transition points.
According to the Suffolk Community Foundation, young people aged 16 to 25 face a number of specific challenges, including worsening mental health concerns and barriers related to housing, employment, skills, and training. The foundation said the fund was created not only to celebrate its 20th anniversary but also to invest in the long-term future of Suffolk by supporting the next generation.
In addition to The Nest Farms and The Future Female Society, the fund has also supported several other charities and community organisations across Suffolk, reflecting a wider effort to strengthen opportunities and support systems for young people across the county.
