The Ontario government has officially opened the Generations Toronto Campus, including a provincially-funded 122-bed long-term care home. Part of a 60-acre multi-generational campus, the facility offers affordable housing, health-care services, child care, and community programming, and was inaugurated by His Highness the Aga Khan as part of a national initiative to improve senior health outcomes.
The long-term care home, primarily serving Toronto’s Shia Ismaili Muslim community while accommodating diverse cultural needs, features two floors in a 27-storey building with shared program and community spaces. The facility will support 125 full-time jobs in nursing, personal support, nutrition, programming, and administration, providing modern, culturally appropriate care for residents.
This project aligns with Ontario’s broader plan to build and upgrade 58,000 long-term care beds across the province, emphasizing staffing, quality, safe and modern facilities, and faster access to services. The Generations Toronto Campus is operated by Multi-Generational Housing and Community Centres Toronto and forms part of the government’s ongoing long-term care construction initiative, supported by updated funding programs and innovative strategies to accelerate home building in urban areas.
