The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Princess Alanood Bint Abdulaziz Bin Musaed Bin Jluwi Al Saud Charitable Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on humanitarian protection, counter-trafficking, and international dialogue. Announced in Geneva on 30 March 2026, the agreement brings together IOM’s global expertise in migration and protection with the foundation’s focus on volunteerism, youth empowerment, and support for vulnerable communities.
The partnership is intended to respond to increasingly complex protection risks by promoting cooperation based on shared values, technical expertise, and local leadership. IOM said the new framework will create practical opportunities for collaboration in anti-trafficking efforts, capacity-building, and international dialogue, while also helping prepare a new generation of humanitarian actors to engage more effectively at the global level.
Representatives of the Princess Alanood Foundation said the agreement reflects the organization’s commitment to building partnerships that strengthen humanitarian action and improve protection for vulnerable populations. The foundation also emphasized its interest in investing in Saudi youth and supporting their ability to contribute positively to national and international development and humanitarian initiatives.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two organizations will explore joint work on awareness-raising, training, and capacity-building activities designed to improve the identification and referral of trafficking cases. These efforts are expected to strengthen institutional responses to trafficking while enhancing knowledge and practical skills among relevant actors.
The partnership also aims to raise the visibility of Saudi humanitarian and development actors in international forums, creating more opportunities for their contributions to be recognized and integrated into broader global discussions on migration, protection, and humanitarian response.
Overall, the agreement establishes a framework for continued cooperation in areas linked to the Sustainable Development Goals and reinforces both organizations’ shared commitment to the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. It signals a broader effort to combine international expertise with local leadership in order to strengthen protection systems and expand humanitarian impact
