The British Embassy Manila and the Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd) are strengthening their partnership to promote equitable, evidence-based use of education technology (EdTech) across the country. Supported by UK International Development and delivered through the EdTech Hub, the collaboration provides expert guidance to improve foundational learning and build a more resilient education system.
Key initiatives include developing the Philippines’ National EdTech Policy to guide strategic technology use in teaching, piloting policy elements, and establishing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. The partnership also explores climate-related learning continuity, helping DepEd evaluate alternative delivery modes during disruptions, and supports AI experimentation through the EdTech Hub’s AI Observatory and Ministry of Education AI Challenge to enhance administration and expand AI capability across government.
The initiative highlights the Philippines’ leadership in EdTech and its commitment to ensuring all learners gain foundational skills. Leaders from DepEd, the British Embassy, and EdTech Hub emphasized the importance of inclusive, evidence-based digital transformation in education, addressing systemic challenges such as learning loss and climate impacts while preparing Filipino students to thrive in a future-ready education system.
