The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced that advanced preparations are underway for the 38th FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (#APRC38), scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 April 2026 at The Empire Hotel in Banda Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The conference will bring together Ministers of Agriculture, senior officials, delegates, and representatives from civil society and the private sector from 46 countries across the region to accelerate agrifood systems transformation.
The conference will focus on key priorities including improving food security and reducing all forms of malnutrition, increasing sustainable agricultural production, advancing low-emission and climate-resilient agriculture, and promoting inclusive policies that benefit smallholders, women, youth, and vulnerable populations. Additional topics include ensuring safer and more nutritious food from farm to market, strengthening agriculture–forestry linkages, supporting sustainable livelihoods, reducing food loss and waste, harnessing science and innovation, and attracting greater financing and investment to achieve these objectives.
#APRC38 will be held in-person with hybrid options for remote participation. Media representatives from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond are invited to attend either virtually or on-site, with advance registration required. Journalists needing visas to enter Brunei must complete an additional registration by 23 March 2026.
FAO Communications Specialists will be available during the conference to support media requests, provide access to broadcast-quality video, facilitate field visits, and arrange interviews with technical experts. The conference website will be regularly updated with technical papers, background materials, and other relevant information to support participants and media coverage.
