On 21st September 2025, SAS Foundation conducted its 22nd E-Waste Collection Drive in India and the 8th in Faridabad at Palm Residency Apartments, Sector 76. While this may appear to be a routine collection event, it exemplifies how communities, youth, and organizations can collaborate to foster a sustainable future.
Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams worldwide, with discarded smartphones, laptops, and appliances accumulating rapidly. E-waste contains valuable metals, plastics, and hazardous substances that, if improperly handled, can pollute the environment. Responsible collection and recycling of e-waste not only prevent soil, air, and water contamination but also reduce dependence on virgin resources, aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals focused on responsible consumption, sustainable cities, and climate action.
The success of the drive was enabled by strong partnerships, particularly with Palm Residency RWA, whose active support ensured smooth execution and resident participation. The efforts of volunteers, including students and professionals, further amplified the impact by spreading awareness and encouraging community engagement, demonstrating the transformative potential of youth and professionals in sustainability initiatives.
Beyond collecting e-waste, the drive fostered conversations and awareness within households and neighborhoods. These interactions help cultivate long-term behavioral change, inspiring individuals to adopt responsible recycling practices and promote sustainability within their communities.
Through initiatives like the 22nd drive, SAS Foundation reinforces its commitment to environmental sustainability and grassroots community development. By conducting multiple drives across India, including several in Faridabad, the Foundation highlights the importance of local action in creating measurable environmental impact.
As technology continues to evolve, the volume of e-waste will only increase. Responsible recycling transforms potential waste into valuable resources while minimizing harm to the environment, emphasizing the need for ongoing community participation. SAS Foundation encourages residential associations, schools, corporates, and individuals to join this mission, advancing a culture of sustainability and building a cleaner, greener India for future generations.
