In Bishkek on 13 February 2026, UNDP delivered office equipment to the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center at the National Investment Agency and the Secretariat of the Council for Business Development and Investments to strengthen the Regional Investment Councils (RICs) across Kyrgyzstan. This support aims to enhance the operational efficiency and institutional capacity of the RICs, facilitating better coordination between government institutions, the private sector, and other stakeholders while promoting socio-economic development and entrepreneurship, particularly among women and youth.
Uluk Kydyrbaev, Head of the Secretariat of the Business Development and Investment Council under the Cabinet of Ministers, emphasized that the RICs serve as effective platforms for dialogue between government agencies and local entrepreneurs. He noted that the initiative expands business opportunities, accelerates problem-solving for business development, and supports the economic potential of each region, contributing to the goals of the National Development Programme 2030.
Alexandra Solovieva, UNDP Resident Representative, highlighted that the support for RICs aligns with Kyrgyzstan’s National Development Program 2030 and strengthens the investment climate by fostering collaboration between the government and private sector, generating new projects and employment opportunities. Ivan Prokopenko, Advisor at the Russian Embassy, added that the funding reflects the Russian Federation’s commitment to sustainable regional economic development in Kyrgyzstan.
The equipment will be deployed across RICs as part of the UNDP project “Expanding Economic Opportunities for Youth and Developing Sustainable Local Entrepreneurship Solutions to Strengthen Social Cohesion and Resilience,” funded by the Russian Trust Fund. The project supports inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development and institutionalizes youth participation in local governance, expanding entrepreneurial opportunities and reinforcing regional investment ecosystems.
RICs have been established in six regions of Kyrgyzstan (excluding Chui region) under the offices of the President’s Plenipotentiary Representatives. They provide institutional platforms for discussing regional development, youth and women’s entrepreneurship, green growth, and digital transformation. UNDP reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting government institutions in improving the investment climate, developing public-private partnerships, and promoting sustainable solutions for regional development through this collaborative initiative.
