Bezos Earth Fund Advances 30×30 Goal with $10B Commitment

Dated: February 13, 2026

The Bezos Earth Fund has committed an unprecedented US$10 billion to address climate change, environmental degradation, and the urgent need for nature protection worldwide. Through this initiative, the Fund seeks to combine science, technology, and community engagement to catalyze transformative solutions that benefit both people and ecosystems. Its latest collaboration with The Earthshot Prize exemplifies this approach, funding projects that drive measurable climate mitigation, conservation, and environmental equity.

Over the next three years, the partnership will support 48 pioneering initiatives, providing a total of US$4.8 million in grants. Each year, 16 high-potential solutions will receive US$100,000 to scale their operations and amplify impact. These projects range from advanced technological innovations to community-based conservation programs, reflecting the Fund’s commitment to backing bold, high-leverage ideas capable of reshaping environmental outcomes. Dr. Kelly Levin, Chief of Science, Data and Systems Change at the Bezos Earth Fund, emphasizes the importance of scaling promising solutions from local or laboratory-based innovations into transformative, global interventions.

A central focus of the Fund is the 30×30 initiative, which aims to protect 30% of the world’s land and oceans by 2030. Currently, only 15% of land and 8% of oceans are formally protected, often in fragmented or under-resourced areas. The Fund collaborates with governments, NGOs, and Indigenous communities to conserve biodiversity-rich regions such as the Congo Basin, the Tropical Andes, the western Amazon, and the tropical Pacific Ocean. Ensuring land rights and community stewardship is a key strategy for equitable and sustainable conservation outcomes. Jason Knauf, CEO of The Earthshot Prize, highlights that this partnership allows the selection of 48 grantees from a global pipeline of innovators, extending the impact of The Earthshot Prize beyond its annual cycle.

Scientific research and technology play a core role in the Fund’s strategy. Initiatives like MethaneSat and the Land and Carbon Lab provide real-time data on emissions, land-use changes, and ecosystem health, enabling precise interventions and accountability. By grounding action in rigorous science, the Fund ensures that investments are both scalable and impactful. Additionally, climate equity is prioritized, recognizing that marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by environmental crises. By integrating local knowledge with global strategies, the Fund empowers these communities as active agents of change, aligning conservation efforts with social justice.

Through its partnership with The Earthshot Prize, the Bezos Earth Fund is advancing a new model of large-scale environmental philanthropy that combines ambition, innovation, and equity. By supporting breakthrough solutions across technology, conservation, and community-led initiatives, the Fund aims to tackle the climate crisis, safeguard ecosystems, and enhance human well-being for generations to come.
