On 9 February 2026, the Netherlands announced an additional €35 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing its total support through the Fund to €100 million. The Fund is administered by the Energy Community Secretariat and co-chaired by the European Commission.
The Energy Community Secretariat highlighted that the increased contribution comes amid months of intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which have placed critical systems under severe strain and exposed civilians to widespread power outages. Of the Netherlands’ contribution, €3 million is allocated to rooftop solar systems through the “Ray of Hope” initiative, providing decentralized power to hospitals and ensuring life-saving care even during blackout conditions caused by attacks.
The donation aims to restore heat and electricity to thousands of households across Ukraine, helping to maintain essential services during this challenging period.
Since November 2025, international support channeled through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has exceeded €1.8 billion, with the total value of equipment, services, and protective measures delivered to Ukraine surpassing €600 million.
