West Berkshire Council has partnered with Greenham Trust to launch the Community Wellbeing Fund, a £110,000 funding initiative aimed at supporting local community and voluntary organisations in promoting mental health, wellbeing, and physical activity across the district. The fund is designed to help organisations deliver projects that address social isolation, mental health challenges, and the need for opportunities to engage in physical activity, while fostering stronger community connections.
Grants from the fund will be awarded on a rolling basis, enabling organisations to apply at any time and receive funding shortly after approval. The funding can be used to expand existing services, introduce new support programs, purchase essential equipment, or launch initiatives that provide tangible benefits to residents. Priority is given to projects serving areas with the greatest need within West Berkshire.
Councillor Patrick Clark, West Berkshire’s Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, highlighted the importance of strong, connected communities in supporting wellbeing and emphasized that the fund helps local organisations create spaces and opportunities for residents to stay active, feel included, and improve their mental health.
Rob Daniels, Head of Grants at Greenham Trust, noted that wellbeing begins in communities and that the fund aims to give local organisations the resources and confidence to respond to real needs. By supporting projects that promote mental health, reduce isolation, and encourage physical activity, the initiative seeks to improve mood, confidence, and overall wellbeing while ensuring funding reaches the areas and groups where it can have the greatest impact.
Applications to the Community Wellbeing Fund are now open, and submissions are reviewed by an expert panel on a rolling basis. The initiative encourages local organisations to apply to help residents feel healthier, more connected, and better supported.
