Around 30 representatives from political parties, auditors, and the Central Electoral Commission attended an explanatory session on the newly adopted Methodology on agreed-upon procedures for the financial management of political parties. This methodology, developed in 2025 with support from the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, aims to enhance transparency and accountability in political party finances.
The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the methodology’s conceptual framework and scope. It clarified the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders and outlined the agreed-upon procedures and reporting requirements. Emphasis was placed on consistently and objectively identifying, documenting, and reporting factual findings, which are essential for ensuring the reliability of financial reports.
A dedicated panel facilitated in-depth discussions on the expectations of the Central Electoral Commission, political parties, and auditors regarding financial reports for parties with revenue or expenditures exceeding 1 million MDL. The new methodology officially came into force in December 2025, marking a significant step toward strengthened financial management and reporting practices for Moldovan political parties.
