The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has formalized a new three-year partnership with Ferrero International S.A. to support public health initiatives across the Americas, with a focus on improving the health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and families living in vulnerable conditions. This collaboration builds on a shared commitment to advancing public health through ethical, science-based partnerships that respect the independence of health institutions.
The partnership is already underway with an initial project in Ecuador, targeting communities affected by violence in the provinces of Guayas and Manabí. The project aims to strengthen immunization services and address gaps in vaccination coverage among populations facing heightened social and security challenges. By focusing on these communities, PAHO and Ferrero hope to ensure that vulnerable groups have better access to essential preventive health services.
Beyond Ecuador, the Framework Agreement establishes the potential for broader regional cooperation in countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico. The scope of collaboration is flexible, allowing initiatives to be designed according to national priorities and PAHO’s technical mandate. Areas of cooperation may include health system strengthening, improving access to health services for vulnerable populations, and enhancing immunization and emergency response capacities.
Both PAHO and Ferrero emphasized that meaningful progress in public health is achieved through partnerships grounded in shared values, integrity, and respect for local needs and priorities. The collaboration reflects Ferrero’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities responsibly and PAHO’s continued dedication to advancing equitable health outcomes in the Region of the Americas.
