The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has awarded over $4.3 million in grant funding to 134 nonprofit organizations through its 2025 Community Grants program. This funding, made possible by the generosity of donors both past and present, comes from a mix of fund types, including flexible funds, field-of-interest funds, and donor-advised funds, and is designed to help strengthen communities across New Hampshire.
Simon Delekta, vice president of community engagement and impact at the Foundation, emphasized that the grants provide nonprofit organizations with the resources they need to respond to local needs, care for residents, and make a meaningful difference for people across the state.
The Community Grants Program is open to nonprofits serving New Hampshire as well as select bordering communities in Maine and Vermont. Organizations were eligible to apply for up to $20,000 per year for up to two years, with the option to request support for either general operating costs or specific projects. Most of the grants awarded were multiyear awards.
The funding supports a wide range of initiatives, including expanding access to childcare, advancing youth leadership development, promoting the arts, and furthering environmental justice. Grants were awarded to organizations of all sizes and missions, such as 1269 Cafe Ministries, 603 Legal Aid, AIDS Response Seacoast, Arts in Reach, Avesta Housing, and many others, covering everything from general operating support to specific programmatic efforts.
Many organizations received funds to enhance community-based services, develop educational and cultural programs, improve access to health and social services, and strengthen local infrastructure. These grants also support initiatives like literacy programs, music and arts education, food security, environmental conservation, and programs for vulnerable populations, including youth, seniors, and people experiencing homelessness.
