The Tacoma Arts Commission has awarded $147,000 in Community Arts Projects funding to 30 Tacoma organizations, groups, and businesses to support public outreach projects in 2026. The funding aims to make arts experiences accessible, community-centered, and reflective of Tacoma’s diverse cultures, bringing dance, music, theater, visual, and cross-disciplinary arts directly into neighborhoods and fostering connection, expression, and belonging.
The funded projects span a wide range of artistic activities, including 10 cultural festivals and celebrations, two youth education programs, music and dance concert and workshop series, theater and cross-disciplinary workshops, murals, visual art exhibits, and programs focusing on the disability and queer communities. These initiatives provide opportunities for both artistic participation and audience engagement, highlighting the city’s vibrant cultural life.
Among the recipients are Alliance for Accessibility, Asia Pacific Cultural Center, Barefoot Collective, Black Night Market, Capoeira Vida, Caribbean Queens, Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation, Foss Waterway Seaport, Greentrike, Hilltop Artists, Lincoln District Business Association, Museum of Glass, Northwest Sinfonietta, One Table Show, Por Vida NW, Queer Northwest, SENCo Creates!, Sheridan Elementary PTA, Sing Tacoma, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma Arts Live, Tacoma City Ballet, Tacoma Light Trail, Tacoma Public Schools Arts Department, The Chayah Movement, The Method Skateboards & Coffee, Trío Guadalevín, Vision253, Washington State History Museum, and WayOut Kids.
