Youth for Voluntary Action in Himachal (YouVAH) has been honoured with the Social Impact Award-2025 in recognition of its outstanding disaster relief and community service efforts during recent emergencies in the state. The award was presented during a two-day workshop on “Environment and Youth” at Panjab University, Chandigarh, which highlighted the role of NGOs in promoting climate adaptation and mitigation through youth leadership.
The award ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Kamal Kishore Yadav, Secretary of the Department of Industries, Government of Punjab, Dr. Rajan Welukar, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, and Dr. Vivek Trivedi, founder of the NGO. The accolade was jointly presented to YouVAH co-founders Sudhanshu Thakur and Lalit Kumar Dogra, acknowledging their exemplary efforts in supporting communities affected by recent disasters.
YouVAH’s initiatives, notably the “Ummeed Himachal Abhiyan” campaign, provided critical financial and material assistance to families in need. Through this campaign, the NGO demonstrated a sustained commitment to disaster relief and community support, reinforcing its role as a key actor in regional humanitarian efforts.
