The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina has established its first Youth Advisory Board (YAB), bringing together 15 young leaders from across the country. This new body provides young people with a structured and institutionalized channel to collaborate with the EU, allowing them to express their views, ideas, and proposals on issues vital to the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Board members represent a diverse range of local communities, professions, and fields of interest, including activists, engineers, students, youth workers, journalists, and researchers. This diversity ensures that EU initiatives in the country reflect the varying needs and priorities of young people, including perspectives from socially and geographically less visible communities.
During their mandate, members will work closely with the EU in BiH, attend meetings and consultations, and contribute to recommendations for youth-focused policies, projects, and programs. They will also engage with institutions, civil society, businesses, educational institutions, and international organizations, advocating for the interests of all young people in the country.
The establishment of the Youth Advisory Board marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the EU and youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Activities will begin early next year with an orientation event introducing members to their roles, responsibilities, and ways of working.
Through this initiative, the EU in BiH reaffirms its long-term commitment to increasing youth participation in public life, creating a platform where young voices meaningfully influence policies shaping the country’s future.
