The African Development Bank Group and the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) have reinforced their partnership to promote regional integration, expand youth employment, and enhance the impact of investments across the Maghreb. The collaboration aims to drive inclusive economic growth and support transformative projects that benefit the region’s populations.
During a high-level Joint Steering Committee meeting held on 15 December 2025 in Tunis, the two institutions reviewed regional economic conditions, assessed the effects of global shocks, and drew lessons from the Bank’s North Africa portfolio. They also discussed priorities for a new three-year cooperation roadmap covering 2026–2029, focusing on initiatives that strengthen regional cohesion and economic resilience.
Malinne Blomberg, Deputy Director General for North Africa at the African Development Bank Group, emphasized that regional integration has been central to the Bank’s mandate since its inception. She highlighted that the partnership with the AMU is aimed at supporting transformative projects capable of sustainably reshaping Maghreb economies in an inclusive manner, ensuring that development benefits are broadly shared across populations.
