The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched ReguLens, a new AI-powered digital platform designed to help employers and business membership organizations (EBMOs) deliver faster, smarter, and more evidence-based advocacy. Unveiled in Turin, Italy, the tool responds to growing challenges faced by EBMOs as they navigate an increasing volume of complex laws and regulatory proposals with limited time and human resources.
EBMOs are often required to react quickly to policy changes, yet traditional regulatory analysis can take days or weeks and may be constrained by technical complexity or limited in-house expertise. ReguLens was developed to close this gap by enabling organizations to analyze legislation and regulatory proposals efficiently, supporting more timely and informed participation in national policy discussions.
The platform significantly accelerates the policy analysis process by delivering a structured first reading in around 60 seconds. While it does not replace in-depth technical expertise or stakeholder consultations, ReguLens provides a strong starting point that enhances internal discussions and helps policy teams prioritize and respond more effectively to regulatory developments.
Designed for ease of use, ReguLens requires no specialized training. Users simply upload a document, select the type of analysis, and receive results. A key feature of the platform is its ability to tailor outputs based on an organizational profile, which captures country context, sector focus, and preferred technical depth. This ensures that analyses and recommendations are relevant, customized, and actionable.
Early pilots conducted with EBMOs in around 20 countries have shown promising results, with outputs closely matching internally produced analyses but delivered in a fraction of the time. Building on this feedback, the ILO plans further enhancements by 2026, including tools to compare regulatory frameworks across countries and expanded customization through enriched internal document libraries, reinforcing ReguLens as a practical and credible support tool for policy advocacy.
