Alexandra is pursuing her passion for bio-entrepreneurship at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, Sophia is advancing her studies in microbiology within the multicultural academic environment of the University of Sorbonne, and Thodoris is focusing on socially impactful machine learning applications at MIT as part of his Master’s in Business Analytics. Their academic journeys were made possible through scholarships awarded by the Bodossaki Foundation last September, enabling them to pursue the studies they had long aspired to undertake.
Building on these success stories, the Bodossaki Foundation has opened applications for scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering new candidates the opportunity to shape their own academic futures. The scholarships support postgraduate studies in Greece and abroad through the 54th Regular Scholarships Programme, postdoctoral research under the “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships Programme, and short-term research visits to universities or research centres abroad aimed at strengthening scientific expertise and international collaboration.
With more than five decades of continuous service, the Bodossaki Foundation remains committed to promoting academic excellence while ensuring equal access to education. In addition to merit, the selection process places equal emphasis on candidates’ financial circumstances and personal qualities, which are assessed through individual interviews. The Foundation also manages and awards scholarships funded by third parties, including institutions, foundations and private donors, such as the life sciences scholarships funded this year by a private benefactor.
The postgraduate scholarships are open to graduates and final-year undergraduate students from all higher education disciplines who wish to pursue advanced studies in the life sciences, applied sciences and technology, or social sciences, with applications closing on 24 February 2026. The Mantzavinos Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships continue their long-standing support for postdoctoral research across fundamental sciences, life sciences and applied sciences and technology, awarding four scholarships to PhD holders, with a deadline of 17 March 2026. The visiting research scientists programme offers short-term funding of up to six months to researchers based in Greece, encouraging international exposure and collaboration, with applications due by 31 March 2026.
The scholarships cover a wide spectrum of contemporary academic fields, including biomedical technology, molecular medicine, bio-innovation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, nanotechnology, natural resource management, and the management of businesses, institutions and non-profit organisations. According to Bodossaki Foundation President Athina Dessypri, each new scholarship cycle represents a step toward a more hopeful future by nurturing ideas and scientific solutions that can generate meaningful benefits for society, while strengthening trust and collaboration with partners who share this vision.
