In celebration of their 50th season, the Seattle Seahawks awarded grant funding to 15 nonprofit organizations across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Hawaii, and Alaska. The community grant program, created earlier this year, allows organizations to request up to $5,000 for projects and programs that align with the Seahawks Community values.
A total of $50,000 in funding was distributed across the six states to support initiatives tied to the Seahawks’ pillars, including the future of football, social justice, community response, youth empowerment, and the military community. The grants are intended to empower local organizations to make meaningful impacts in their communities.
As part of the grant announcement, Seahawks Legend Ben Obomanu and Vice President of Community Engagement and Legends Mario Bailey visited BELONG Partners at McKnight Middle School in Renton. BELONG Partners, an education equity nonprofit, recently expanded to Renton Public Schools and implements the “Design Our Own Learning” curriculum in three local middle schools. This program empowers students to co-design and implement equitable school policies, fostering systemic change within the district.
Bailey emphasized the importance of supporting such initiatives, stating that the Seahawks are proud to recognize BELONG Partners and all recipients of the Impacting 50 Communities grant. He highlighted that funding projects like BELONG’s curriculum creates real change in schools, making learning more accessible, engaging, and impactful for students and teachers, while helping all 15 grant recipients advance their missions and goals.
