The Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS), which has helped propel UK artists to international acclaim, has opened a new funding round with £1.6 million available to support emerging talent in taking their music to global audiences.
Backed by the Department for Business and Trade and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, MEGS has invested £7.6 million over 11 years, helping over 450 British artists—including Mercury Prize and BRIT winners like Dave, Young Fathers, Ezra Collective, and Wolf Alice—achieve worldwide success. The scheme has generated an estimated £73.5 million return to the UK economy.
Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle said, “Our music industry is already the envy of the world, and we’re giving artists the tools to go global, amplifying British creativity and driving growth across the sector.”
The new round strengthens eligibility criteria and due diligence processes to ensure continued excellence in supporting talent. Funding will help artists and music companies deliver high-quality marketing, promotion, and touring opportunities abroad, building new fan bases and revenue streams.
With UK music exports contributing billions to the economy, MEGS offers nearly £14 in return for every £1 invested, underlining its impact as a major driver of cultural and economic success.
