Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda has announced immediate emergency grant support in response to severe flooding across the region. Grants of up to $3 million for Sri Lanka, $2 million for Thailand, and $2 million for Viet Nam will be provided following requests from the respective governments.
“I am deeply saddened by the suffering caused by these devastating floods,” said Mr. Kanda. “ADB will work quickly and cooperatively with governments to bring shelter, comfort, and hope to those affected.”
The grants, drawn from the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund (APDRF), will support life-saving humanitarian efforts in the immediate aftermath of the floods, which have caused widespread loss of life and damage to property and infrastructure.
