Zimbabwe has pledged US$1 million to the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8, signaling its continued commitment to combating HIV, AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. This funding also aims to strengthen national health systems amid reductions in donor support.
The pledge was announced during World AIDS Day commemorations in Umzingwane District, which were held under the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.” Minister of Health and Child Care Dr. Douglas Mombeshora emphasized that strategic partnerships are essential to sustaining progress in the fight against these diseases.
Zimbabwe’s contribution reflects its proactive role in global health initiatives and its dedication to maintaining momentum in HIV response efforts, even in the face of financial challenges and shifting international funding landscapes.
