The exhibition in Bangkok, titled “Steps for Tomorrow – A Journey Towards Zero Hunger,” was launched by the United Nations World Food Programme and Siam Piwat to raise awareness about WFP’s efforts to combat hunger across the Asia-Pacific region. It highlights the scale of the crisis, with 69 million people facing acute hunger driven by conflict, climate shocks, and economic inequality. The event underscores the critical role of partnerships, with Siam Piwat’s CEO emphasizing the need for collaboration with organizations like WFP to advance sustainability and meaningful impact.
WFP’s Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific noted that hosting the exhibition at a major retail destination gives the public an opportunity to learn, engage, and support vulnerable communities. He stressed that partnerships across sectors are essential for building a future where everyone has reliable access to food.
The exhibition runs from 29 November to 1 December and offers an immersive experience through five interactive zones illustrating WFP’s mission and operations in the region. Visitors follow a pathway that begins with WFP’s global mandate, moves through demonstrations of how support becomes life-saving assistance, and presents tools used in real emergency responses. Personal stories from countries such as Afghanistan and Bangladesh highlight resilience amid crisis. The journey concludes with a “Take Action” zone, where visitors can participate in interactive activities like Freerice and ShareTheMeal, encouraging them to turn awareness into tangible support.
