The African Development Bank Group and Shanghai Ocean University are inviting qualified African nationals to apply for the 2026 SHOU Scholarship Programmes. This initiative supports the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy, which focuses on developing a new generation of African experts equipped to strengthen the continent’s institutional and technical capacities in fisheries, aquaculture, and marine resource management.
Shanghai Ocean University is globally recognized for its leadership in marine science, aquaculture, and ocean governance. With partnerships spanning more than 40 international institutions and organizations, the university plays a central role in advancing sustainable aquatic development and resilient food systems worldwide.
The African Development Bank Group, as the continent’s leading development finance institution, remains committed to promoting sustainable economic growth and social progress. Through this scholarship collaboration, it aims to help African scholars gain world-class training and contribute meaningfully to the development of Africa’s blue economy.
The scholarships will be hosted at Shanghai Ocean University in China and are available for both short-term summer school programs and full graduate studies at the master’s and Ph.D. levels. Awardees will receive full tuition, accommodation, meals, monthly stipends, and access to advanced research facilities and specialized training in marine and aquatic sciences. Applicants will need to cover their own flight tickets and visa costs.
