Around 1.3 billion people with disabilities continue to face substantial health inequities, many of which are rooted in how health systems are financed. High out-of-pocket costs, limited benefit packages, and insufficient funding for accessibility and reasonable accommodations prevent many from accessing essential health services.
To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the International Disability Alliance is hosting a webinar in collaboration with the World Health Organization focused on disability-inclusive health financing. The session will explore current financing models, identify barriers that contribute to exclusion, and discuss strategies to enhance equity through Universal Health Coverage packages.
The webinar is scheduled for 3 December 2025 from 14:00 to 15:30 CET. Participants will receive expert insights from WHO, data on the current financing landscape, and experiences shared by organizations of persons with disabilities and Member States. The session will include a panel discussion and live Q&A.
Accessibility is a priority for the event, which will be conducted in English with captioning, interpretation in all UN languages, and International Sign Language. Registered participants will have the opportunity to request additional accommodations to fully engage in the webinar.
