The “Strengthening the Ghanaian Pharmaceutical Sector with a Focus on Vaccine Production” (PharmaVax Ghana) programme is inviting qualified Ghanaian private pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to participate in a Call for Applications aimed at enhancing market access and technical capacity. Co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the Team Europe Initiative on Manufacturing and Access to Vaccines, Medicines and Health Technologies in Africa (MAV+), the programme is implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Government of Ghana, Luvent Consulting (a Chemonics Company), and other stakeholders. Its primary objective is to strengthen Ghana’s pharmaceutical ecosystem, including governance, regulation, skills development, research and development, and private sector growth.
As part of its private sector development efforts, PharmaVax Ghana is seeking applications from medium and large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturers to receive tailored expert services. These services aim to improve competitiveness and expand the production of quality, safe, effective, and affordable vaccines and pharmaceutical products. The programme is organized by GIZ and Luvent Consulting in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI), along with consortium partners Quamed and Health Access Network. Participation is competitive and selection will be based on merit and readiness to engage in the programme.
The initiative specifically targets medium and large-scale producers, mainly members and associate members of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana, due to the focus on compliance with international regulatory standards and market access. A separate call for small-scale producers will be launched at a later date. Applicants should note that the programme does not provide direct funding or co-financing. Support is offered through specialized technical and business assistance, including advisory support and training in key areas to enhance operational and regulatory capabilities.
The deadline for applications is 19 December 2025. Interested companies are encouraged to consult the Applicant Information Pack and complete the official Application Form for detailed guidance on the submission process.
