The Government of Canada has announced new federal support to strengthen cultural tourism in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, recognizing the sector’s importance to regional economic development. A non-repayable contribution of $112,500 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) has enabled the Regional Municipality of Grand Falls to purchase and install a modular stage and specialized lighting equipment. This new infrastructure is designed to enhance festivals, performances, and cultural events, helping the community offer higher-quality experiences to visitors and residents alike. The Province of New Brunswick has also contributed $67,500, reflecting a shared commitment to boosting local tourism capacity.
This investment highlights the federal government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate local economies through cultural tourism, which plays a key role in community vibrancy and regional identity. Improved event infrastructure will support small businesses, attract more visitors, and strengthen year-round tourism offerings. Local leaders emphasized that the project not only enriches cultural programming but also reinforces Grand Falls’ reputation as a distinct and welcoming destination.
Grand Falls is an established agro-industrial hub and a popular recreation and tourism area in the Upper St. John Valley. The funding comes through the Tourism Growth Program, which helps communities and organizations expand tourism products and experiences across Canada. By investing in cultural infrastructure, the government aims to drive sustainable growth, elevate community pride, and broaden opportunities for both residents and visitors.
