Fight for Sight has introduced the Digital Inclusion Fund, an initiative aimed at breaking down long-standing barriers that prevent blind and vision-impaired people in the UK from accessing meaningful employment. Currently, fewer than one in three individuals with sight loss are in paid work—an issue that carries profound economic, social, and emotional consequences.
As workplaces increasingly rely on technology, digital skills have become essential. However, many blind and vision-impaired people lack consistent, high-quality training and support to navigate rapidly evolving digital environments. Fight for Sight emphasizes that digital confidence is not optional—it is vital for securing jobs, staying competitive, communicating access needs, and advancing in the workplace.
The Digital Inclusion Fund will support projects that create transformational change by equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools to take control of their digital development. Ultimately, the initiative aims to improve employment outcomes and strengthen long-term pathways into work.
The fund offers up to £30,000 per project, with a duration of 12 to 36 months. Eligible projects must address at least one of the priority areas—preparing for work, job searching and applications, job retention and progression, or training for careers in technology or digital support. All projects must meaningfully incorporate lived experience and are encouraged to collaborate across sectors.
Organisations eligible to apply include UK-registered charities, CIOs, charitable companies, CICs limited by guarantee, and exempt charities such as educational institutions. Applications are open to organisations of all sizes that directly support blind and vision-impaired people or individuals at risk of sight loss.
Applications must be submitted through Fight for Sight’s online portal, with registration required before applying. Guidance on creating an account and navigating the portal is available on their website.
