Freedom Community Project, a charity that has supported people living in poverty in North Derbyshire, has announced it will close due to ongoing funding challenges. Bolsover District Council stated that despite extensive efforts, the organization was unable to secure sustainable financial support to continue its operations.
Founded in 2008, Freedom Community Project has provided vital services to thousands of individuals and families, including food aid, debt advice, employment support, and community outreach programs. The charity has played a key role in supporting vulnerable residents in the Bolsover area over the past 17 years.
The charity’s main premises, St Bernadettes on the High Street in Bolsover—which housed a food pantry, clothing shop, and soft play facilities—will close immediately, marking the end of the organization’s services to the local community.
